The smart tunnel is closed from Sunday for flood mitigation operations until further notice. The reason - the water level in the tunnel is on danger level, plus the weather forecast predicted there will be storm for the coming week. I hope it is not another technical problem which commonly happen in Malaysia.
I am confused with the usage of the tunnel.. it major suppose to divert the flash flood water to other place and not containing the water in the tunnel. Base the explanation in Wikipedia, the motorway will be reopened to traffic within 48 hours of closure after a major storm. Hmmm.. there isn't any MAJOR storms for the past few days. If it reopen are we going to see mud, rubbish, and water mark everywhere in the tunnel? I am so looking forward for the reopen.
Another question arise, do they really tested the water management system? Don't know who can answer this. In the newspaper, the spokesman said “The water level has risen and if diversion was not conducted, Dataran Merdeka could have been submerged in water.” But why there is a flood at Jalan Pudu along the Pudu Raya?? Since there is a tunnel link between Dataran Merdeka with Smart Tunnel, I guess by theory, the Jalan Pudu should have some channel to join into the tunnel as it is closer to the tunnel. There are more and more questions appeared in my head. I think I better goto sleep and stop wasting time to argue this stupid "smart" questions.

Ooo new banner! :)
We never need to use the Smart tunnel much, thankfully.
Wah.. since last week I updated the banner.. :P and you only aware now, so sad.. :(
Better avoid the place until it open. It has really bad traffic during the peak hours.
The SMART tunnel should be re-named as SILLY tunnel.
It has 3 tiers with the last bottom one carrying flood water. When it's too much, it will automatically open its upper 2 tier gates for water to flow in. So this becomes longkang besar!
CCTV and lamps in the first 2 tiers are not water prove. Is it mean they need to change the lamps and CCTV after it turn into a longkang?
