A new way to do sales?!!

I am wondering how a customer service can sell a product without knowing the basic specification/information on the product. Almost everyday, I have to face with this funny situation. A salesman/saleswoman selling a product that they have no idea with.

A conversation between Company M and me this morning..

Me: May I know the speed of your data services?
Sales: We have varies data service plan, which one you refer to?
Me: Hmmm… are you mean the speed depend on the plan I subscribe?
Sales: Please hold on, sir. I need to check?

Background ad for 3G for duration of 3 mins.

Sales: Thank you for holding, the speed is xxx Kbs.
Me: Is the speed rate for all plans?
Sales: Please hold…

Background ad for 3G for duration of 3 mins.

Sales: Yes, it apply to all the plan.
Me: How about for those area without 3G coverage?
Sales: Please hold…

Background ad for 3G for duration of 3 mins.

OMG!! Why they need to take so long for simple question? They should have it handy on screen, assuming they should be train as they should be the expert on 3G. I have specially selected press 3 for “3G”.
