It is today Star newspaper headline.
Malaysia govt reduce taxes on import if vehicles under National Automotive Policy (NAP). Among the major moves under the NAP are:
a. Doing away with Approved Permits (APs) by Dec 31, 2010
I thought Malaysia going to open the automotive market on 2008? Why all the suddent changed to 2010?
b. Establishing only 2 national manufacturers
What happend to Kia? the 95% non local national manufaturer car maker?? Will it be progressively phased out?
c. Preventing the import and sales of sub-standard vehicles
Sub-standard?? Hmmm.. is Proton in the list?? LOL
d. Banning the import of re-conditioned ( second-hand ) cars by Dec 31, 2010 except for personal usage
e. No new manufacturing licences until overcapacity in the domestic automotive sector is resolved
Base on what? and when?

During my visits to Krungthep, I have met several key players of the Thai auto industry. There is a difference between Thailand and Malaysia.
Thailand has a sense of direction, Malaysia has none, or perhaps a lack of direction.....
